Kazakhstan Geography

It is situated in Central Asia and is the heartland/geographic centre of Eurasia. Kazakhstan, neighboured by China, Russia and other Central Asian countries, such as Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and also a considerable part of its border goes through the Caspian Sea.

Covers area of 2,724,900 square km and Kazakhstan is the 9th largest country in the world, comparable to India and Australia. Seven major European countries such as Sweden, Italy, Finland, France, Spain, Germany and the UK accommodated in steppes of Kazakhstan, according to topographers.

Distinguished By An Uneven Distribution Of Precipitation In Its Different Areas, KazakhstanHas A Severe Continental Climate.

In separate years spring arrives from south to north over 1.5 – 2 months. When it is spring sowing in the south the northern area, is covered with snow and the blizzards blow frequently.

Its nature distinguishes with landscape diversity: mountains are natural attractions of the Central, East and South-East Kazakhstan, deserts or semi-deserts found in the South-West, and North of the republic is mainly in the steppe and forest-steppe zones.

This is the steppe lake Tenghiz in the north of Kazakhstan, which according to scientists, appeared after a huge meteorite had fallen here in prehistoric times. White swans floating over its still surf (Silvery lake) carrying themselves proudly, and flamingos walking with slow, measured steps, between a vast ocean of grain fields.

Kazakhstan Natural Phenomena :

You may listen to “concerts” of signing sands, in the environs of the resort of Ayak-Kalkan (Almaty region): here the sand dunes, being moved by the wind to produce sounds which are as loud as the blasting of a ship horn. You will get to see many natural and quite unique phenomena in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Landscapes Diversity :

The variety of landscapes and regions of Kazakhstan land, defined by being located in the innermost part of the Eurasian continent, the picture of numerous landmarks in the geologic annals of our planetoid.

In the southern ranges of the temperate zone owing to an excess of sunshine and relatively low deserts precipitation, steppes, and semi-deserts predominate.

Half of the Kazakhstan empire is taken up by plateaus and hills 300 to 400 meters in height. The strings of Altai Mountains and Dzhungarski Ala-Tau, reach a height of 4,000 to 5,000 meters and more in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Landscapes Diversity :

Original and costly stones, and various building and facing decorative materials lie in the depths and mountains of Kazakhstan. Medical, industrial, mineral and radiant water sources can be included among the countless riches of Kazakhstan, though now they are not broadly used.

Most of the major cities are established on the banks of major rivers. The largest cities of the country areKaraganda, Shymkent, Taraz, Pavlodar, Astana, Almaty, Kokshetau, Kostanay, Petropavlovsk, Uralsk, Kyzylorda, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey; overall there are 86 cities and towns in Kazakhstan and 56% of the area is covered by the Urban population.
