Yangiabad Pearl Of Uzbekistan Mountains

Yangiabad is a small village located in the Taskent Region just 118 Km from the city of Tashkent. It is located in the foothills of the Western Tien Shan mountain range and not too far from the industrial city of Angren (10 km away). A completely unknown destination a few years back, it is now flourishing as a vibrant recreational centre. Historically, it was an industrial town with rich deposits of uranium and silver beneath its soil. After the valuable minerals were discovered, several industries got set up and miners and engineers from Russia, Ukraine, and Germany immigrated to this region. But over time the deposits depleted and soon the golden days of the town were over.

But lately considerable effort has been put in by the government to turn it into a recreational center. And thanks to its mountainous landscapes and closeness to Tashkent which receives the highest percentage of tourists in Uzbekistan, Yangiabad is on its way to becoming one of the top tourist destinations in the future.

Located at an elevation of 1,500 above sea level, hiking and trekking are crowd favorites in here. Multiple interesting mountaineering routes start from Yangiabad which lead to higher peaks in the mountain. Babaytag and Shakhtyor are highest and second highest peak with an height of 3,550 m and 3,400 m respectively. From the top you’re guaranteed a spellbinding view of the Western Tien-Shan mountain range.

The lodges in here are equipped with bars and restaurants, guest rooms, and discos. Near the town, there is a spring the water of which tastes really good and is filled with minerals. A town excursion is even better if you want to avoid the mile long walks. The scent of the pine trees in the atmosphere and the remains of the factories along with the traditional lifestyle of the people make the excursion trip worth it.
