Abarkuh is a historical city located in the Yazd Province of central Iran. It is situated approximately 300 kilometers southeast of the city of Isfahan. Abarkuh is known for its rich history, ancient monuments, and unique attractions.

One of the most prominent landmarks in Abarkuh is the Abarkuh Cypress, which is believed to be one of the oldest living trees in the world. The tree is estimated to be over 4,500 years old and is considered a symbol of longevity and resilience. It is a popular tourist attraction and draws visitors from around the world.

Abarkuh is also home to several historical sites. One of them is the Jame Mosque of Abarkuh, a historical mosque with a beautiful courtyard and architectural features that date back to the 14th century. The Gonbad-e Ali Dome, an octagonal mausoleum from the Seljuk period, is another notable structure in the city.

The historical Abarkuh Caravanserai, known as the Zeinodin Caravanserai, is located near the city. It was built during the Safavid era and served as a stopover for merchants traveling along the Silk Road.

Abarkuh’s old quarter features traditional adobe houses, narrow alleyways, and a local bazaar. Exploring the old town allows visitors to experience the traditional architecture and local way of life.

The city also hosts the Abarkuh Icehouse, known as “Yakhchal,” which is an ancient refrigeration system that was used to store ice and food during hot summer months. This traditional structure showcases the ingenuity of ancient Persian engineering.

Abarkuh has a desert climate with hot summers and cool winters. The best time to visit is during the spring and autumn seasons when the temperatures are more moderate.
