Aidarkul Yurt Camp
Yurts are the portable dwellings of Asian nomads. Their history goes back more than 3,000 years. The design has been constantly improved, so the result is functional and comfortable to live in. Yurt can be easily assembled and disassembled in an hour, if the whole family will take part in the assembly of course. It is transported on two horses or camels. It is cool in summer and warm in winter. It is an environmentally friendly dwelling because of the use of natural materials.
Inside the yurts are decorated with handmade carpets and “shirdaks” from local artisans. Candleholders and colorful patterns create a festive and unusual atmosphere. For the curious tourist such a place will be not only a shelter, but also a great museum to explore the local culture.
In the Yurt Camp Aidarkul guests will be able to spend evenings sitting around the fire, listening to the songs of local akyns and enjoying the view of the stars and the Milky Way. Of course, a delicious meal with plenty of local cuisine awaits everyone.
The world that opens up around the camp
The surroundings of the camp are the exact opposite of what we think of deserts. Despite the endless sands, there are about twenty-five species of plants, there are small lizards, turtles, hares. Varans and, of course, camels are encountered. All the two-humped camels are domesticated and trained to ride, so they are completely harmless. In the sands of the Kyzylkum Desert there is a small village where people live, preserving the ancient way of life and traditions. On the way to the camp you can see the “stone gallery” created by ancient people. There are over 3000 images of people, animals, etc. on the rocks.
Lake Aidarkul
One of the most amazing places in Uzbekistan is Lake Aidarkul, which runs through an arid and sandy desert. It is a true miracle of nature, whose surroundings are inhabited by about 345 families. The reservoir is artificial, located at an altitude of 247 meters above the sea. The lake is an integral part of the Arnasai system of lakes. It is often called the “turquoise sea in the sands,” due to its large size and unique shade of water.
A spectacular adventure on the lake is fishing. Tourists from all over the world come here to go fishing. The lake pleases with a large number of fish of different species.
In winter Aydarkul is not covered with ice, which gives rise to unique natural landscapes. On the reservoir you can find rare species of birds: the red goose, the curly pelican, the white-tailed pelican.
Of course, Lake Aidarkul attracts a large number of tourists. People come here to enjoy nature and amazing landscapes. You can swim in the lake, go boating and fishing – great reasons to get away from nature.
