The weather & climate of Silk Road differs in different provinces as it passes through a string of cities. The Silk Road, however, keeps four distinctive seasons and is relatively dry when compared with some eastern and southern areas.

Shaanxi has various climates:

temperate and continental monsoon climate; semi-arid with hot and humid summers; cool to cold winters.

Weather in the Gansu Province ( Lanzhou, Dunhuang )

The climate in Gansu is dry, with a huge difference in the temperatures during the days and nights.

Weather in the Xinjiang province( Urumqi, Turpan, Kashgar )

Xinjiang has a semi-arid or desert climate with a low annual rainfall of 150 millimeters.
