Tour to Uzbekistan
“To the Heart of Tamerlane’s Empire”
Embark on a 14-day journey through the heart of Central Asia, following the footsteps of Tamerlane and exploring the cultural treasures of Uzbekistan. This itinerary is designed to immerse you in the history, traditions, and daily life of the Silk Road, combining iconic landmarks with authentic local experiences. From the bustling capital of Tashkent to the legendary cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, you will encounter magnificent Islamic architecture, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and vibrant oriental bazaars. The journey takes you beyond the cities as well — into remote mountain villages, the vast Kyzylkum desert, and the tranquil shores of Aydarkul Lake, where life still follows centuries-old rhythms.
Highlights include the breathtaking Registan Square, the royal necropolis of Shakhi-Zinda, and the awe-inspiring Bibi-Khanym Mosque in Samarkand; the Ark Fortress, Poi-Kalon Ensemble, and Samanid Mausoleum in Bukhara; and the walled old town of Khiva with its mosques, madrasahs, and minarets that transport you back to the days of the Silk Road caravans. Along the way, you will also visit sacred pilgrimage sites such as the memorial of Imam al-Bukhari and the complex of Bahouddin Naqshbandi, revered Sufi master.
This tour is not just about sightseeing: it’s about living Uzbekistan. You will stay overnight in a traditional yurt camp and enjoy camel rides by the desert lake, share a meal in a village home, learn how to cook the famous Uzbek plov during a family master class, taste fine local wines, and listen to the songs of an akyn under the stars. Artisans will open their workshops to you — from ceramic masters in Gijduvan to silk weavers and miniature painters — giving you a deeper understanding of the region’s artistic legacy. The balance of cultural discovery, nature, and personal encounters makes this 14-day journey an ideal way to experience Uzbekistan in all its richness. It is a journey into history and spirituality, but also into living traditions and heartfelt hospitality — a voyage truly worthy of the title “To the Heart of Tamerlane’s Empire.”
