City tour in Almaty
Your guide and driver will meet you at the hotel lobby in Almaty to start the tour. Depart Almaty and drive to Medeo Gorge. Visit the huge Medeo dam, that protects the city from destructive mudflows formed on the tops of the western Tian Shan mountains. From the top of the dam, at the altitude of 1733 meters above the sea level, enjoy view of the largest high mountain skating rink in the world – Medeo, surrounded by marvelous mountains of Trans-Ili Alatau. From Medeo, take a ride to the mountain ski resort Shymbulak and then up to the Big Talgar pass (3200 m above sea level) by the cable car. Enjoy amazing views of the snow peaks and the Tian Shan mountains glaciers.
Return to Almaty
Visit Panfilov Park – named after the 28 heroes, who died for freedom and independence of the country. Zenkov Cathedral - the oldest building of the city, that is entirely wooden, built without any metal nails and a Memorial complex devoted to the World War Two and with eternal flame. Continue sightseeing at Green bazaar – a place where you can buy souvenirs, central Moslem mosque, Republic square with three main symbols of Kazakhstan and Obelisk devoted to the independence.
Overnight in Almaty hotel
At 7:00 am our guide and driver will meet you at the hotel lobby to start the tour. Depart Almaty and drive to Kolsai lake.
Arrival at 12:00.
Lunch. Transfer to Kaindy Lake.
Sightseeing.
Lake Kaindy («birchen» in Kazakh) is lost in a coniferous forest at the height of 2000m above sea level among the Kungei Alatau Mountains. Lake Kaindy with a length of 400m and depth of almost 30m was formed as a result of natural disaster: a gorge was flooded with water, which formed natural gates in the very center of the lake. Its coniferous trees submersed incompletely, their dried peaks overlook proudly over the water like sunken squadron masts.
Then drive to Saty settlement (15km).
Dinner and overnight at the guest house.
Departure to Almaty. Sightseeing at Charyn Canyon on the way. Charyn Canyon is situated in the territory of the Charyn National Park which was laid out with the purpose to preserve natural and geological objects. This picturesque indigenous locality impresses with its heavenly landscapes The Canyon depth is 200m. The height of the bluff mountains of the Canyon reaches 150-300m. The Canyon itself represents a monument of nature formed with sedimentary rocks aged more then 12 million years. The landscapes are virtually miraculous there. Arrive in Canyon. Have some time for picnic and rest. After that walk along canyon and enjoy its beautiful view.
In the afternoon, return to Almaty.
Arrive in Almaty.
Overnight in Almaty hotel
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport.
