    Khatna-kilish (Sunnat-tuyi)

Khatna-kilish, sunnat-tuyi or circumcision. A very important rite that all boys go through. It is an ancient event sanctified by Islam. People call it a "wedding" Parents, from the birth of a child preparing for the wedding: sew blankets, bed linen, festive clothes. The rite itself is performed when the boy is 3, 5, 7 or 9 years old, very rarely at the age of 11-12.

Before the ritual, surahs of the Koran are recited in the presence of elders from the mahalla, the imam from the mosque and male relatives. So the boy is blessed and given gifts from relatives and neighbors. In some cases, they put him on a foal, as a sign that he is becoming a man.

After that, a festive table is laid and the rite itself - the big "wedding" - begins.

Guests congratulate the boy, showering him with sweets and money. The celebration begins with plenty of food, music, and dancing.
