Mandatory express tests for coronavirus are again introduced in the airports of Uzbekistan from January 15 because of the detection of the strain "Omicron" in the country, the press service of JSC Uzbekistan airports reported on Friday.
The cost of the test, the result of which will be ready within 15 minutes, will be 5 dollars in the equivalent of the national currency - soum. In the case of detection of infection, the passenger will be sent to isolation, added the press service.
Express testing is introduced in the country for the third time.
Earlier, the Uzbek authorities tightened the rules for entering the country because of the detection of omicron: since January 15, all crossing the border are required to do a PCR test 48 hours before departure instead of the previous term of 72 hours.
On Sunday, Uzbekistan's Ministry of Health announced that the country had detected its first case of infection with the Omicron strain of the coronavirus.
