For many travelers, the idea of a "Silk Road adventure" conjures images of dusty caravans and bumpy camel rides. While you can certainly find those, the modern reality is far sleeker.
Enter the Afrosiyob, Uzbekistan’s high-speed bullet train. Manufactured by the Spanish company Talgo, these trains whisk you between the ancient cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara at speeds of up to 250 km/h (155 mph). It is clean, punctual, and surprisingly affordable.
However, getting a ticket is often harder than getting a visa. Here is everything you need to know to navigate the system in 2026.
The Afrosiyob network connects the "Golden Triangle" of tourism efficiently.
⚠️ The "Khiva" Warning: As of 2026, the electrification of the line to Khiva is in its final stages. While test trains have run, regular high-speed service may not yet be daily. Most travelers currently take the Afrosiyob to Bukhara and then use a private transfer or a standard sleeper train for the final leg to Khiva.
Ask your Minzifa Travel consultant for the most up-to-date status on the Khiva high-speed line.
