The best time to visit Azerbaijan is from April to June and from September to October, when the weather is mild, sunny, and perfect for exploring the country's diverse landscapes. During these months, temperatures are comfortable for sightseeing in Baku, hiking in the Caucasus Mountains, visiting historic Silk Road towns like Sheki, and discovering Azerbaijan's unique natural attractions. Spring brings blooming meadows and green valleys, while autumn offers colourful scenery, harvest festivals, and excellent local produce.
Thanks to its varied geography, Azerbaijan experiences several climate zones. Summers (June to August) are hot and dry, especially in Baku and the lowlands, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C (86°F). This is a great time to escape to the cooler mountain regions of Gabala, Guba, and Khinalug or relax along the Caspian Sea coast. Winters are generally mild in the capital but snowy in the Greater Caucasus, making December to February ideal for skiing and snowboarding at Shahdag and Tufandag resorts.
